Fresh off the Nintendo Direct, I indulgently want to talk about the games that I’m most excited for. Note that some of the games featured are not exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
My Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games After the Nintendo Direct
The recent Nintendo Direct was exciting for a variety of reasons, but personally, there are a few games that I’m anticipating the most. Selfishly, I want to discuss those games in this feature, so I do apologise if I haven’t covered a game you’re looking forward to. And with that, let’s delve in.
Persona 4 Revival
I still can’t believe we’re getting a Persona 4 remake. It’s not that surprising, especially since we got a Persona 3 remake, but I can’t wait to play this one. I love Persona 4, and I’ve put a lot of hours into Persona 4 Golden on the Switch. The nostalgic graphics certainly add to the charm in the original, but I’m loving the updated Persona 5-esque graphics of Persona 4 Revival.
Persona 6
We didn’t get much more from the 30-second sneak peek than what we already got a few months ago, but I have to mention it because I am so excited for this one. So far, the vibes seem dark and creepy, and it might be the darkest Persona game so far. The Persona games do get pretty dark, but there’s something about the aesthetic of Persona 6 that seems very different.
Professor Layton and The New World of Steam
It’s been a while since I’ve played a Professor Layton game, dating back to the Nintendo DS. However, this new and upcoming entry looks incredibly exciting, and it’s certainly piqued my interest. The trailer is enough to get me interested in the franchise again, though I’ve always been bad at the puzzles in Professor Layton.
Cairn
Cairn has surprised me quite a bit, as I’ve realised it’s much more than a climbing simulator. Aside from the climbing, there are other survival mechanics to manage, and plenty of characters to meet and connect with. It looks like a grand adventure, and I’m really looking forward to it.
Of course, this isn’t a new release as it’s already available on Steam and the PlayStation 5, but I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet. I might just wait for it to come to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis
I know this isn’t exclusive to the Switch, but I need to talk about it because I cannot get over the fact that we’re getting a new Tomb Raider game where Lara looks reminiscent of the earlier entries. Tomb Raider Legend is one of my favourite games of all time, and whenever I think of Lara Croft, I think of that version of her, as well as Anniversary and Underworld.
This is probably the most anticipated game for me, and it’s going to be such a nostalgia trip. The trailer already looks incredible.
Kirby and the World Beyond
I’m a big fan of the more open-world Kirby games. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is one of my favourite Switch games, and while it’s not exactly open-world, it’s got that expansive feel to it. These modern Kirby games definitely suit my tastes more. It’s so colourful and charming.
The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother
I don’t know why, but I never expected The Apothecary Diaries would ever get a game adaptation. I’m not disappointed, though; in fact, I’m pleasantly surprised. I’m hoping it’s more of a cosy game, maybe like the Atelier series, but set in the world of The Apothecary Diaries.
