Familiarise yourself with the levelling system and find out how to make the most of EXP sources in my Grand Blue Max Level guide, which keeps you updated on the current peak and how to get there.
Let’s waste no time and get right on into what you came for.
Grand Blue Max Level
There is no true maximum level to climb in Grand Blue, but the game does present a soft cap at Level 130. What this means is, whilst you can still train past level 130, you will not reap any benefits of further levels until this soft cap is released and extended.
This means no additional stat points, or “All Stats Increased” bonuses, and no accessories or equipment will level-lock beyond the cap.
How To Level Up Quickly
Grand Blue offers a multitude of ways to get EXP, which I’ll list for you below.
- Quests
- Main Quests: These give the most EXP and are story-affiliated, meaning they’re non-optional and gradually guide you through the early to late-game.
- Side Quests: You pick these up from NPCs. Some Side Quests are repeatable, whilst others are locked to one-time completion. Either way, it’s a great source of EXP.
- Skills
- Enhancing your life skills, such as Fishing, Cooking, and Mining, will also generate EXP whilst you perform those tasks. To further the EXP gain, you could speak to NPCs near each skill quarter to pick up related quests and earn more EXP for completing tasks whilst indulging in life skill hobbies.
- Combat
- Defeating NPCs: A lot of NPCs have trouble with the Marines, Treasure Hunters, the lot. You can pick up a lot of NPC requests to defeat mobs for EXP, Gold, and sometimes other wares.
- Defeating Bosses: Bosses and Mini Bosses drop the most EXP, but give a harder fight. If you’re well-trained and understand their battle gimmicks, you can repeatedly battle them to earn plenty of EXP. Some Bosses also have NPCs with corresponding defeat quests to earn even more EXP.
Level Up Benefits
Levelling up will award you with Stat Points to invest in your build for ideal refinement based on preferred play.
Also, you’ll unlock access to certain tools, crafting recipes, and accessories that are level-locked, meaning they were inaccessible before reaching a certain level threshold. For example, the Scrap Metal Jaw accessory requires reaching player level 30 to equip.
Finally, general story progression. This one is obvious, but to play the game and enjoy all content as intended, you need to level up and get stronger.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Lifeskill levels different to player levels?
Yes. These work on a skill tree point distribution-based mechanic, where you invest in tree growth to enhance your lifeskills. For example, in cooking, you can invest skill points to have quicker cooking times.
These “EXP” Lifeskill Points generate each time you complete tasks related to that Lifeskill, such as going fishing to get more Fishing Lifeskill EXP. However, whilst Fishing, you will also earn regular player-levelling EXP.
