It’s very much spooky season, and we’ve had our hands full with Roblox horror lately. Don’t Let Him In is a stand-out, a round-based co-op survival which makes shutting windows into an extreme spot. I put together this guide on how to play Don’t Let Him In on the strength of a number of runs, some wins, and a few deaths.
How To Play Don’t Let Him In
Let’s go.
What Do You Do In Don’t Let Him In?
The title probably gives a lot of it away, but the objective in Don’t Let Him In is to survive through the night while something nasty (currently mostly monsters from the Doctor Nowhere canon) tries to break in. If it does break in, you need to take evasive manoeuvres to avoid some grim fate befalling you. You have a few tools at your disposal, and knowing how and when to use them will make the difference between winning the round, and ending up like a victim in an analogue horror video. Time to explain how it all works.
Maps
There are currently three playable maps in-game.
- The House
- A medium sized map, a normal residential house in a rural area, spread across two floors.
- Snow Lodge
- A large sized map, set in an expansive hunting lodge.
- Stormcrest Manor
- The newest map, a large
Monsters

There are currently three different potential intruders in the game, mostly creations from Doctor Nowhere, but we have gotten something new with The Skinwalker. Each of the monsters has different quirks you should keep in mind when you’re trying to deal with them.
The Locust
From the TOE sequence.
The Locust is quite agile, and can climb quickly, making it tricky to keep track of. Regardless, it’s one of the more straightforward monsters.
The Boiled One
Based on Doctor Nowhere’s The Boiled One Phenomenon video.
Guilt
Based on Doctor Nowhere’s The Boy And The Bath video. This monster’s gimmick in a music box that spawns on the map. You need to keep the creature out, while also making sure the music box continues to play throughout the round. If it stops, the round immediately ends badly.
The Skinwalker
The newest addition and first non-Doctor Nowhere creature, based on folklore and various internet horror stories.
You can pick any of these from the start, either when creating a room, or selecting the kind of round you want to join.
Surviving The Night

The goal of each round of Don’t Let Him In is to survive through the night while one of the entities above tries to ruin your evening, and possibly eat you.
Repelling The Monster
Whichever monster you have, you have one advantage: It’s kind of easily spooked. Shining a flashlight on the creature, or switching a light on, will cause it to flee… for a short period. It won’t stay away for very long, but either will distract it from whatever nefarious task it’s doing. This is key to surviving. If you can stop it before it completes any of its attempts to get in, you’ll survive with minimal danger. If you don’t… you’ll have to deal with much bigger problems along the line.
Windows
Monsters will attempt to open the window to get in. This can happen on the group floor, or upper floors. You’ll hear the sound of sliding if this happens. When it does, you will have a few seconds to repel the creature. Once you’ve done that, you can close the window again.
Doors
You may hear knocking on the door from time to time. Probably not a great idea to answer. More concerning, you may have something attempt to open the door to get inside. This is signalled by a creaking noise. Much like the windows you’ll have a few seconds to close them again.
Lights
There are lights outside of each entry way. You can turn these on to prevent the monster trying to open them. This isn’t a complete fix, though. Every light on slowly increases the heat bar for the power. The more light on, the faster it climbs. See the Fuse Box section for how that turns out.
The Fuse Box
You should locate the breaker box for the map you’re on, for two reasons. The first is that the monster will try and mess with it during the night. You can scary it off by turning on the lights, or catching it in the act. If you don’t catch it in time, then it will cut the power, which leads to the second reason. If it does cut the power, none of the lights will work, and you’ll need to go out and reset it if you want use of the electrics again… but sadly the monster is also out there… so good luck. This is why you need to keep a close eye on the fuse box and not let it get that far. You can also overload the breaker box by overheating the power by keeping too many lights on for too long.
Breaches

If you fail to secure the doors and windows, you will experience a breach, where the monster gets into the house. In these events, the house will go dark, and the message ‘HE IS INSIDE’ will appear in red letters on the bottom of your screen. This is a dangerous situation, but you can survive. The monster will eventually leave if it can’t find you.
- Hide. You can conceal yourself in closets or other small rooms. As long as the monster doesn’t check, you should be okay.
- Sneak around. Crouch to lower your posture. You’ll move slower, but you’ll make less noise.
- Run if you need to. If it spots you, it will come after you. You can still survive this, if you can break line of sight.
- Revive fallen teammates. Depending on difficulty, you can find or acquire revival totems. Use these to bring back teammates that got caught.
Tips
So, now you have some idea of how to play Don’t Let Him, here are a few ways to improve your chances.
- Open all the doors. You don’t want anything stopping you getting to a window, or a hiding spot.
- Sometimes it’s better to hide. If you’ve left an opening window or door too long, don’t head towards it. Hide instead. The last thing you want is to be right in front of the window when it gets in.
- Music box duty. If you’re up again Guilt, have someone in charge of winding the music box. They shouldn’t wander too far away.
- If you’re in co-op, spread out over the floors. Have at least one person on each floor. Running up and downstairs eats a lot of time.
